We are working to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We have not got there. This page is a list of what works, what does not, and what we measured, rather than a conformance claim we cannot back.

Last measured: September 4, 2026, across nine pages of this site. Everything below was measured in a browser by us. Nothing was measured by an independent auditor and nothing was tested with a screen reader, so treat the list of defects as incomplete rather than exhaustive.

The standard we work to

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Level AA. That is the target for new work on this site, and it is the yardstick the measurements below are taken against.

We do not claim to meet it today, and this page is not a conformance statement. Where the site falls short we would rather write the number down than round it up.

What works

Skip link The first thing keyboard focus reaches on every page is a Skip to content link, so the header navigation can be jumped past instead of tabbed through on every route.
Real controls Interactive elements are buttons and links rather than styled containers, so they are reachable and operable from a keyboard. The focus ring is a solid 2px outline at 5.35:1 against white, not a faint glow.
Alt text Every image carries an alt attribute, written from looking at the picture, in English and in French, rather than generated from a file name.
Reduced motion If your system asks for reduced motion, no content is held hidden waiting for an entrance animation. Every animated block on the home page is visible on load in reduced-motion mode.
Two languages Every page exists in French and English, and the document language attribute changes with the page so a screen reader pronounces the right one.
Button and link colour The interactive palette has been reworked and measured. Primary blue is 5.35:1 on white, the accent is 5.93:1, and the focus indicator is a solid outline rather than a tint. On September 1 the category filter sub-labels went from 2.27:1 to 4.58:1, and nothing in the footer bottom bar now measures under 5:1, where the build id used to sit at 1.83:1. Grey text elsewhere on the site is a separate problem and is still open, below.

What does not work

Small grey text was the largest defect on this site and most of it is now fixed. The two greys that carried it, #888888 at 3.54:1 and #999999 at 2.85:1, were darkened to #6E6E6E at 5.10:1 and #707070 at 4.95:1 on September 4, which clears the 4.5:1 AA needs at those sizes. That one change covers the specification labels, review counts, product taglines, sort control, blog card dates and the Battery Pal blocks together, because all of them read the same two tokens. What is still wrong: strikethrough and disabled text at #BBBBBB measures 1.92:1 and one #CCCCCC label in the comparison block measures 1.61:1. Both are unchanged, because nothing has re-counted which of their uses are genuinely inactive controls, and WCAG does not require contrast for those.

Small coloured glyphs fail too. The amber star in a rating measures 2.15:1 and the green check in a comparison table measures 3.3:1. The rating count is written out in text beside the stars; the comparison check is not.
This site is a single-page application. With JavaScript turned off, nothing renders at all: the served HTML is an empty container. There is no server-rendered fallback, and adding one is open work rather than a decision against it.
No independent audit has been done, and nothing has been tested with a screen reader, a switch device, voice control or a braille display. Everything on this page is our own browser measurement.
Zoom, reflow at 400 percent, target sizes and reading order have not been measured at all. They are absent from this page because we have not checked them, not because they pass.

Parts of the experience we do not control

The card fields at checkout are rendered by Stripe inside their own frame, and their accessibility is Stripe’s. So is the Lectronz store that EU orders under $165 are routed to, and so are Amazon, RobotShop and Elecrow. If one of those blocks you, tell us anyway. We would rather know which route failed than assume you found another.

What we do not claim

We do not claim conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and we do not claim compliance with any particular accessibility law. PN Labs is a Quebec company selling into the United States and Europe, and which accessibility regimes reach a store like this one is a question we have not had answered. Until it is, saying nothing is more honest than naming a statute we have not checked ourselves against.
